The Big Pumpkin

It's fun to play. Actually it's healthy to play. I love a good challenge so this year I decided to grow a big pumpkin and see how big it would grow. I didn't realize all the work and research that I'd be putting into this but as time went on, I've become almost 'obsessive'! over this pumpkin. I guess you could say I got 'hooked'. This has been such a fun project (first try) that I decided to share it with all.

5-24-08	Set plants in garden area
5-25-08 - 5-29-08	Watched for female plants.
5-30-08	Set 4 amethyst stones next to the main root
7-8-08	Self pollinated flower # 1. watered.
7-9-08	Self pollinated flower # 2.
7-10-08	Self pollinated flower # 3 fertilized w/lama poo, worm castings, horse poo, kelp, molasses, compost (tea).
7-10-08	measured #1 - 5 1/2 inches (4:40 pm)
	measured #2 - 5 1/4 inches
	measured #3 - 4 1/4 inches watered pm, pinched new buds
7-11-08	Had our soil tested. Soil Ph 7.1, OM (organic matter) 6.4, phoshporus: 500, potassium: 278. All above optimum..
7-11-08	measured #1 - 6 3/8 inches measured #2 - 6 inches, pinched new buds
7-12-08	BEATLES!! sprinkled leaves with wheat bran
7-13-08	First picture of #1. measured - 9 1/2 inches. # 2 6 3/4 inches. pulled # 3
7-14-08	fertilized w/ 20-20-20, watered AM, measured #2 - 11 1/2 inches (T-B), measured #2 - 10 inches
7-15-08	watered AM, pinched off new flowers, measured # 1 14 1/4 inches (t-b), # 2 - 12 inches (has a split in it), sprinkled wheat bran on flowers and leaves.
7-20-08	Fertilized w/20-20-20, watered
7-21-08	watered, measured - 16 inches top to bottom and 32 cir. Played 'sounds' to it: magic mushr.happy laughs, inner trip off, intense tripping.
7-26-08	Gary's putting stakes in to make a shade cover. He noticed the other day that my pumpkin is getting bigger.

8-6-08	Fertilized, watered.. Measured: 28 inches top to bottom. 60 inches circ.
	It appears to be growing wider now than from top to bottom... It should rain today...I hope
9-6-08	I think?? we cut a main vine. A learning..The pumpkin stopped growing at 68 inches circ. and 28 inches long. Oh...boo..hoo..
10-25-08	But? It was a fun try and a real learning time. We all had fun with it. We'll give it another go next year...
10-27-08	We busted up the pumpkin to get the seeds out. There are LOTS of seeds, so I think we should have a contest to 'guess the number of seeds! Check out on the website to enter your GUESS.
